Aberdeen
Aberdeen is a small town centrally located mid-way between Scone and
Muswellbrook.
The town is
renown for its slow country pace, even though the New England Highway
runs through its midst. The atmosphere is laid back and relaxed, and has
some very interesting shops welcoming browsers.
Not too far
away is Glenbawn Dam, beckoning the avid angler. It is also a popular
spot for waterskiing, swimming, sailing, canoeing and sailboarding.
A number of
Horse Studs can be found not too far from the township itself, and the
surrounding scenery is worth the drive.
Denman
Providing you an opportunity to see just what this town has to
offer everyone from all walks of life.
Only three
hours North West of Sydney, Denman has a tremendous amount to offer
travellers and locals alike.
Why not
spend the day wine-tasting at one of the many vineyards, including the
famed Rosemount Estate. Or maybe travel to one of the nearby
thoroughbred studs for the chance to see the likes of Danehill or
Octagonal.
Accommodation varies from camping at the local Caravan Park to rooms at
the local Motel in the area. There is lots to see and do, in Denman,
for people of all ages.
Murrurundi
The small
but pretty town of Murrurundi is located at the base of the Liverpool
Ranges on the Pages River, in the Northern-most region of the Upper
Hunter Valley.
With very
little industry to drive this community, any changes that have occured,
have taken place over time. The main street has been declared an urban
conservation area, such is the quality of the heritage of this town.
There are
plenty of things worth seeing and doing around Murrurundi, and with
mountains looming almost overhead, the scenery is well worth the
exploration.
Muswellbrook
Muswellbrook is a boom town in this day and age, expanding all the time.
Employment is on the increase, with the tremendous boom in industrial
areas within the local region.
Being the
main service centre within the local region, there are a large amount of
facilites to cater to the economy in the area, varying from dairying to
vineyards, and all in between.
There is a
lot to see and do, in and around Muswellbrook, and the local people are
more than happy to help point you to the landmarks along the way.
Scone
Scone has a tremendous amount to offer anyone, local or visiting.
Horses are
the most popular attraction in Scone, especially during their Horse Week
Festivities in May each year. The Grand Parade down the Main Street of
Scone is a sight to be seen, for gala and extravagance.
Tours are
run on a regular basis, to the many horse studs in the area. For those
that are keen on horses, this is a must!
Apart from
horses, Scone is also noted for its cattle. Being the centre for a Shire
based around agriculture, pastoral and dairying, the town is a hive of
activity most days of the week.
Scone is
only 3.5 hours from Sydney, along the New England Highway, and offers
some stunning scenery, along with a variety of quality accommodation.
Singleton
Singleton, discovered in the 1820’s, has a rich heritage and natural
splendour.
The thriving township
supports an active mining industry, an army base and diverse
agricultural enterprises. The many historic buildings and museums
provide a unique insight into life in Singleton at the beginning of the
20th century.
Singleton can boast of being
the actual geographic heart of the Hunter. Its central location on the
New England highway makes access easy and convenient and hence the town
becomes a popular overnight stop over for travellers.
